The stock Ducellier ignition system used technology that dates back a century-to the Kettering system, which was introduced in the 1910 Cadillac. Even though you can adjust breaker points for near-electronic ignition performance, they will burn and wear within a few thousand miles, long before the recommended replacement interval. With points, the timing will drift; power and fuel economy will suffer.
