The Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit is as easy to install as points and condenser!

 

Virtually all 4-cylinder, air-cooled Porsche distributors have right-pivoting points. Some 6-cylinder Porsche distributors have left-pivoting points; some have right-pivoting points. Please compare the points in your Bosch distributor to the photo of points below:

Determine whether your Bosch distributor has single-piece points, as early (pre-1968 or so) Bosch distributors typically have 2-piece points. If it has 2-piece points, a brass pivot pin will remain, standing up from the breaker plate, after you remove the points.

 

Note: Some Porsche 911 cars have a distributor with left-hand pivot pin points. The 3BOS6U1 will fit only distributors with 1-piece, right-hand pivot pin points. If your Bosch 6-cylinder distributor has  1-piece, left-pivoting points, order the 3BOS6U2L. Please compare the points in your 911's distributor with the points in the above photo before ordering and attach a memo to your PayPal payment, specifying whether your 911 distributor has left-hand (3BOS6U2L) or right-hand (3BOS6U1) points.

If your Bosch distributor part number, normally found on the side of the distributor body, is not among those listed on the relevant web page, chances are, the HotSpark ignition conversion kit won't fit your distributor.

It's imperative that we know your distributor's brand name, distributor part number and the number of cylinders of your engine. You may need to remove the distributor temporarily, so that you can read the distributor part number from the side of the distributor body. Usually, the side of your distributor will be covered with oil and dirt, so you'll need to clean it to find the distributor brand name and exact part number.

We can guarantee only that each of our ignition kits will fit a distributor with one of the distributor part numbers listed on its relevant web page. Otherwise, it likely won't fit. HotSpark ignition kits require a 12-volt, negative ground (earth) electrical system.

If you order the wrong electronic ignition conversion kit for your distributor, you'll need to return it to us, via US Postal Service mail within 45 days from date of purchase. If the ignition kit is in perfect, unused condition, we can accept it as a retuned item, within 45 days of purchase, and provide a refund to your PayPal account, less a 20% restocking fee and any international shipping fees, etc., but only if the ignition kit is in pristine, unused condition. Timing Set At:

30-32 BTDC @ 3,500+ RPM, vacuum hose disconnected and plugged. Use stroboscopic timing light. Timing should not exceed 42-44 BTDC @ 3,500+ RPM (full advance) with vacuum hose connected, no load on engine.

1946-1983 4-cylinder, air-cooled VW and Porsche with available vacuum source on carburetor or throttle body.
