The Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit replaces breaker points and condenser in the distributor to provide rock-solid reliability. With the Hot-Spark electronic ignition, dwell and timing are always spot-on accurate.

The stock Bosch ignition system used technology that dates back a century - to the Kettering system, which was introduced in the 1910 Cadillac. Even though you can adjust breaker points for near-electronic ignition performance, they will burn and wear within a few thousand miles, long before the recommended replacement interval. With points, the timing will drift; power and fuel economy will suffer.

Make sure that your distributor has single-piece points, as older (pre-1968 or so) Bosch distributors typically have 2-piece points. If it has 2-piece points, a pivot pin will remain, standing upright from the breaker plate, when you remove the points.

Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit. Replaces points and condenser in many Bosch
4-cylinder distributors, including VW, Porsche, Volvo-Penta marine engines,
BMW, Alfa-Romeo, Volvo, Saab, etc. Fits 4-cylinder Bosch vacuum-advance and
centrifugal-advance-only distributors with 1-piece, right-hand pivot pin
points.
