The Hot-Spark electronic ignition conversion kit replaces breaker points and condenser in the distributor to provide rock-solid reliability. With the Hot-Spark electronic ignition, dwell and timing are always spot-on accurate.

The stock, breaker points-based ignition system uses technology that dates back a century - to the Kettering system, which was introduced in the 1910 Cadillac. Even though you can adjust breaker points for near-electronic ignition performance, they will burn and wear within a few thousand miles, long before the recommended replacement interval. With points, the timing will drift; power and fuel economy will suffer.

Virtually all 4-cylinder, air-cooled VW
distributors have right-hand points. Some 6-cylinder Porsche and Mercedes distributors have
left-hand points; some have right-hand points.

Determine whether your distributor has single-piece points, as older (pre-1968 or so) Bosch distributors typically have 2-piece points. If it has 2-piece points, a pivot pin will remain, standing up from the breaker plate, after you remove the points. The 3BOS4C2 ignition kit fits older, 4-cylinder Bosch non-vacuum distributors with 2-piece points (also available in a 6-cylinder version, the 3BOS6C2).

Electronic Ignition Conversion Kit. Replaces points and condenser in certain Bosch
6-cylinder, non-vacuum-advance distributors with 2-piece, right-hand pivot pin
points.
For Distributors:
6-cylinder, non-vacuum-advance Bosch
distributors with 2-piece, right-hand pivot pin points.
For centrifugal-advance-only distributors. Not for
vacuum-advance distributors.
For Bosch 6-cyl distributors with distributor
shaft lobes measuring 18.6mm, instead of 16mm.
Application:
Certain Bosch 6-cyl, non-vacuum-advance distributors with
2-piece points
If a Bosch distributor has 2-piece points, an upright pivot
pin will remain, standing up from the breaker plate, after the
points have been removed.
For Bosch 6-cyl distributors with distributor
shaft lobes measuring 18.6mm, instead of 16mm.

Coil Required:
Coil must have 1.5 Ohms or more
internal primary resistance.
